Congratulations to all the members of Heathmont Bushcare on celebrating 25 years of dedicated care for the native bushland in Heathmont!
Heathmont Bushcare (formerly known as Heathmont Bushlinks) was formed in mid 1994 as a result of an action by others, to extend a car park on PTC land close to Heathmont Station (a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria). This proposed action was luckily thwarted by the recognition of local residents of the importance of this rare patch of grassy woodland.
In fact it was obvious from this point that there were many residents in Heathmont who shared a love for the bush and recognised the wonderful remnants that Heathmont still had. As a result of this Heathmont Bushcare was formed and a works calendar was developed so that we would religiously gather at our sacred sites to weed and plant, on the first Sunday of each month.
If you would like to be involved, we need your help and you would be very welcome. Afterwards enjoy some delicious home cooking, a cup of tea or coffee and a sense of accomplishment.
