Victorian Environment Friends Network

VEFN’s Annual General Meeting will be held on Saturday 19th November at approximately 1.30pm and will be immediately preceded by a ceremony to present VEFN’s 2016 Best Friend Awards.  Please arrive at noon for a 12.30 start if you are attending the award ceremony.

This year the awards will be presented by the Honourable Lily D’Ambrosio, Minister for Energy, Environment & Climate Change and Minister for Suburban Development. More details follow.

Both the AGM and the Award Ceremony will be held at The Hub, 80 Harbour Esplanade, Docklands, which is a short walk from Southern Cross Station, or by tram along Collins Street towards Docklands. The Best Friend Award ceremony will commence at 12 midday.

Could you please indicate whether you will attend the Award Ceremony and/or the VEFN AGM by no later than Friday 4th November. Email The Secretary VEFN at ecosystems@bigpond.com . We need to confirm numbers for catering and for the logistics of room set up. For those of you who will attend, I will then provide a map of the venue location. For those attending the VEFN AGM, I will send out an agenda and papers in the week commencing 7th November.

VEFN Annual General Meeting: Commencing approximately 1.30pm
If you value the existence of the VEFN and want to influence its direction it is important you come to the meeting.
Key items for the AGM are as follows:

  • Financial statements for 2015-16.
  • Activity report.
  • Election of Office Bearers and Committee Members.
  • Preliminary consideration of changes to VEFN’s Constitution.

This includes deciding on membership and voting, a membership fee, and the composition of the VEFN committee.
Nominations for the Committee will be taken on the day or by email in advance. Your Committee needs more people and I urge you to get involved, even if you are only able to take on specific tasks.
The AGM will be asked to approve the direction in principle, which would then guide the drafting of a new Constitution to be considered at an Extraordinary General Meeting in the new year.

Best Friend Award Ceremony: Arrive 12 midday for ceremony at 12.30pm
The Awards will be presented by the Honourable Lily D’Ambrosio, Minister for Energy, Environment & Climate Change and Minister for Suburban Development who will also present each awardee with a small grant. The Honourable Rod Mackenzie OAM, VEFN Best Friend Award Panel Member will host the ceremony. Light refreshments will be provided and you may continue on for the VEFN AGM.
