As part of Maroondah’s Waste Management Program, Council offers a range of special education initiatives. These include guided tours of a recycling facility, educational sessions and materials on waste minimisation, composting, recycling and litter for schools and community groups.

Free Beginner Compost Workshops
To celebrate International Composting Awareness Week, which runs from Monday 6 to Saturday 11 of May, Maroondah Council is offering two free beginner composting, worm farming and Bokashi workshops.
Did you know that composting your food scraps and garden waste can reduce the amount of waste in your bin by up to 50%? Come along and learn how to turn your waste into a resource for your garden! These workshops will provide you with all the information you need to start a compost bin, a worm farm and a Bokashi system at home.
